(KMOV.com) - The wife of a paramedic who saved a 3-month-old from drowning in a Metro East lake says her husband did a heroic thing by simply doing his job.

Todd Zobrist of Highland EMS saved a 3-month-old from drowning in Silver Lake near Highland. The infant’s mother was later found dead in the lake and his father was shot dead inside the family home in Glen Carbon. The home also caught on fire. The infant’s six other siblings were not injured.

Zobrist is the father of two boys and his wife Jessica wrote a message to the two of them about the rescue and why you don’t have to save someone’s life to be a hero. Read the post here.
