WATERLOO, Ill. (KMOV.com) – The Waterloo Police Department is encouraging ATM users to check for card skimmers before inserting their card.

The police department said skimmers are typically attached using double-sided tape and can be easily removed with minimal residence. ATM users should manipulate the card reader before placing a debit or credit card inside to ensure there is not a skimmer on the device.

Earlier in the week, police reported a card skimmer was found on an ATM at the Scott Credit Union in Waterloo on May 19.

If a skimmer is found, users are urged to immediately contact the police department.
