St. Louis County Police Officer Blake Snyder was shot and killed the morning of Oct. 6. A little more than 24 hours later, the family of the suspected shooter offered an apology and their condolences.
"We are extremely sorry about what has happened," William Forster, the father of Trenton Forster said to News 4's Investigative Reporter Lauren Trager.
Eighteen-year-old Trenton Forster is accused of shooting Officer Snyder at point-blank range around 5:00 a.m. Thursday morning. Officer Snyder was responding to a call in the Affton Precinct.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the police and the officer. We are very sorry," William Forster said.
The father of the suspect went on to say there is nothing their family can say to make up for the loss of Officer Snyder.
William Forster told News 4 that Trenton Forster deserves whatever he gets and he hopes Trenton is punished to the fullest extent of the law.
"We have been cooperating fully with police. Trenton will have to pay for what he has done," William Forster said. "We are extremely sorry about what has happened. Our hearts and prayers and thoughts go out to the families of the police and the officer. We are very sorry. There's nothing we can say that could possibly make up for their loss. Trenton deserves whatever he gets and I hope he's punished to the fullest extent of the law. We have been cooperating fully with the police.
