ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – A man who was too drunk to enter Ballpark Village was reportedly shot after punching a passing motorist in the face.

According to police, the 27-year-old suspect got into an argument with security officers at Ballpark Village around 11:50 p.m. Saturday after they refused to let him inside because he was too intoxicated. The man then walked towards South Broadway, where he got into a verbal altercation with a man who was in a passing vehicle.

When the man in the vehicle attempted to drive away, the suspect ran after him. Once the suspect approached the vehicle’s driver-side window, he allegedly punched the victim multiple times in the face.

The man inside the vehicle, who later said he feared for his safety, pulled out his personal gun and fired shots at the suspect, police said.

The victim sustained minor injuries to his face but refused medical treatment.

The suspect was taken to the hospital and listed critical, stable condition.

The victim is reportedly cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
