(KMOV.com) – More than 50 eighth graders from Chaminade help clean up Oak Grove Cemetery on Saturday.
“It has been very helpful to everyone because they only have one caretaker,” said Matthew Ostermueller, one of the students helping clean up the cemetery. “We are helping them out a lot by making this place more presentable for people who are going to come here to visit their deceased loved ones.”
The students raked leaves, cleaned old decorations off graves, and picked up tree limbs. The cemetery has been the focus of prior News 4 investigations over issues of neglect. However, the owner of the cemetery, Marilyn Stanza, is now working with volunteer groups to beautify the grounds. She also thanked the students for their help.
