A fatal accident closed both directions of Highway 47 in Union, Missouri on Wednesday.

The accident happened just south of Highway 50, near 47's intersection with Sawmill Road around 2 p.m.

Police said Cohlin Tindle, 18, of Wentzville was driving a 2005 Ford Focus southbound on Highway 47 and crossed the centerline, hitting a 2008 Ford Taurus.

Tindle was not wearing a seatbelt. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.

The driver of the Taurus suffered minor injuries. A passenger in Tindle's car was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Three passengers in the Taurus suffered minor injuries, while two other passengers inside weren't hurt.
