JEFFERON COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) - The suspect in the 1993 shooting death of an Arnold, Mo. liquor store owner has died, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office told News 4.
Loril Harp, 69, died Thursday at a local hospital. Harp was charged in September with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the death of 40-year-old Steven Weltig. Investigators say Harp shot Weltig on April 23, 1993 at the Ajax Liquor store, which Weltig owned. Harp was an employee of the liquor store at the time.
Harp had been living at a nursing home before he was taken into custody and was being held at the Jefferson County Jail. He was in a local hospital for a couple of weeks before he died.
