St. Louis County Police officers say the suspect involved in a south county officer-involved shooting has died.
Joshua Lanflisi, 38, of the 7700 block of Harlan St. died from his injuries Friday night, according to police.
St. Louis County Police officers from the Affton Southwest Precinct were called out to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred Oct. 1
Police say the shooting happened in the 7700 block of Harlan Avenue around 6:30 a.m.
Authorities say they responded to a "call for police" around 6:30 a.m. in the 7700 block of Affton. When police arrived they attempted to find the person who contacted police by knocking on the front door of the residence.
When police received no answer, they peered through a front window. Officers say they saw a man approaching the door holding a gun in one hand and a sword in another.
The man opened the door and released a dog from the home as officers stepped back. Police say the man then stepped out of the front door and onto the porch, still holding the weapons.
The officers on scene told the man to drop his weapons, but police say the suspect did not comply.
One officer fired his weapon, hitting the suspect several times.
The suspect was transported to a local hospital on Oct. 1 in critical, unstable condition.
Lanflisi's gun and sword were recovered.
Authorities confirmed no officers-involved were not injured.
This incident is being investigated by the St. Louis County Police Department's Bureau of Crimes Against Persons but police say the case appears to be a "suicide by a cop" incident.
After further investigation, police found a suicide note written in marker on the suspect's bathroom mirror.
