FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KMOV.com) – A suspect is in custody after a burglary at Avis/Budget Car Rental in the Metro East.

The Fairview Heights Police Department said they were called to the business on North Illinois around 7:45 a.m. Thursday to investigate the burglary. When they arrived, three vehicles, several sets of car keys and computers were missing.

After noting the stolen vehicles’ information, a computer check showed one of them had been stopped by the Swansea Police Department overnight, prior to being reported stolen.

Officers were able to contact the suspect who was stopped and take him into custody. One of the stolen vehicles was found behind his home and two others were found parked in the same neighborhood where the burglary occurred.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police department at 618-489-2130.
