EAST ST. LOUIS ( – Authorities say the U.S. Marshals arrested a woman who allegedly stabbed Alexaundria Redd-Bates, 27, multiple times with a box cutter.

According to authorities, Myeisha James is accused of stabbing Redd-Bates while she was inside her car talking to a friend.

“I’m the nicest person. I go to church, I give to people, and I help everybody,” Redd-Bates said. “And for this to happen to me, it hurts my feelings.” The stabbing left her covered in blood and she still doesn’t know why James allegedly stabbed her.

“At first, I just thought it was just her swinging. I didn’t know I was cut right away, so once I found out I was bleeding from the neck, I just knew I was dead,” she said. She says the grace of God got her through the ordeal and is glad she had enough strength to get away from her attacker and drive herself to safety.

The U.S. Marshals tracked down James in the St. Louis area. East St. Louis Police Chief Michael Hubbard said James faces several charges including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
