(KMOV) – Strawberry season at Eckert’s Orchard in Belleville will be delayed due to the unusually cold spring weather the area has seen this year.
Eckert employees say the family-owned orchard expects to begin selling its homegrown strawberries in its Belleville store May 18, while pick-your-own strawberries will be ripe around May 25.
Because of the crop’s late ripening, Eckert has rescheduled the start of its Strawberry Festival to May 18 and 19. The festival will also be held the weekends of May 25 and June 1.
Eckert said this weekend it will still have several activities going on, including wagon rides, a bounce house, a mechanical ride and face painting.
