St. Louis Police unveil new Real Time Crime Center

( – The new Real Time Crime Center will aid St. Louis police officers in reducing crime and finding suspects across the city.

The new facility will be constantly staffed with specially trained officers. At any point, officers can pull up one of 400 cameras stationed throughout the city and acquire real-time information. Officers on patrol with laptops will also be able to access information.

“We need to get our officers as much information as possible so they can do their jobs better,” said St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay. “This is about making the community safer. We do have policies in place which we will make available as terms of use of the information.”

The policies the mayor mentioned are expected to be finalized soon. The first phase of the funding is being provided by private donations and grant money.
