In December, News 4 introduced viewers to Kelly Wever of St. Charles County.

Wever was born with cystic fibrosis, and in dire need of a double lung transplant.

In late January, Wever received the call she's been waiting on for more than 3.5 years, a donor match was found in California.

Wever received a double lung transplant at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, and in less than two weeks was released from the hospital.

Although she will require medication for the rest of her life, Wever is breathing without oxygen assistance. Wever told News 4 she's "thankful" to the donor and his/her family for giving her a second chance at life. Wever hopes others will consider organ donation.
