ST. CHARLES COUNTY (KMOV.com) – A major milestone in St. Charles County, the unemployment rates is now at its lowest mark in nearly two decades.
County officials report unemployment sits at 3.1 percent, which is the lowest in 17 years.
The county’s biggest cities are also flourishing. Wentzville, O’Fallon, St. Peters, and St. Charles are all seeing unemployment rates at 3 percent or lower.
“We’ve had lots of business expansions in St. Charles,” said Scott Drachnik, Director of Department of WorkForce and Business.
Another reason for the spike in hiring is because baby boomers are retiring.
