Questions are being raised about how an off-duty St. Louis police officer was shot by another officer.

On June 21, Officer Milton Green left his home to assist with a crime scene when he was shot in the arm. At the time, police called it an accident. The shooting happened in north St. Louis.

However, those who know Officer Green have their doubts.

“The suspicion according to the community is he was shot because he was a black man, and there is no other justification for it. There was no friendly fire, but why are the interim chief and mayor not willing to come forth and be open and honest about what happened,” said North City resident Prince Carter.

News 4 contacted St. Louis Police and Mayor Lyda Krewson’s office for a response.

Mayor Lyda Krewson said the investigation into what happened is ongoing.

"I would certainly say it's a tragic accident and if there's something the city needs to do to be supporting this officer, I certainly think we should do that," said Krewson.
