ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – U.S. Senator Roy Blunt is backing Betsy DeVos’ nomination as Secretary of Education.

The U.S. Senator for Missouri made the announcement Wednesday night with the following statement:I believe Betsy DeVos understands that decisions about education need to be made much closer to where kids are. I look forward to working with her to find ways to get those decisions back to local school boards, and moms and dads. As Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee for the Department of Education, I will be working hard to ensure that public education continues to be appreciated as the cornerstone of opportunity in America. After Senator Blunt posted the announcement to his Facebook page, thousands of comments flooded in from people voicing their concern about her nomination.

President Donald Trump’s nomination of DeVos is one of his most controversial Cabinet picks, with two Republican senators saying they will vote against her.
