Stores prep for shopper increase ahead of bad weather

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) - Schnucks and the union that represents most of its employees have reached a tentative contract agreement.

The head of UFCW Local 555, which represents 89 percent of Schnucks workers, announced an agreement had been reached Friday night.

The two sides were at odds over items such as pay and pension contributions. In late September, Schnucks employees voted to reject a contract offer, but did not go on strike.

The union will hold a meeting on October 26 at the Family Arena in St. Charles to vote on the contract.

Union President David Cook said the group is also finalizing negotiations with Shop ‘n Save and Dierbergs and believes a deal will be reached next week.
