FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KMOV.com) – Police are searching for a masked man who robbed a a Dollar General in Fairview Heights, Ill. Thursday.

Officers responded to the Dollar General store located at 5000 block of North Illinois St. at 8:15 p.m. for an armed robbery in progress.

Upon arrival, officers learned employees had been confronted by a man wearing a black ski mask. The suspect, who was carrying an AK-47 style rifle, demanded money from the employees.

The suspect fled from the store after receiving an undisclosed amount of money. 

Officers, including a K-9 unit, searched the area but were unable to find the robber.

No one was harmed during the robbery, police say. 

The suspect is described as a man, 6’00”, wearing a black ski mask, two-toned blue jacket with dark colored pants. The age of the suspect is unknown.

Police say he is also wanted in the robbery of a convenience store in Caseyville.

Detectives ask for anyone with information to contact the police department at 618-489-2130.
