(KMOV.com) – A crowd of people from all over the St. Louis area gathered outside the Ferguson Police Department to pray.
The group held hands and, while it was an unplanned event, they were soon joined by two Ferguson police officers and the department chaplain.
“These are citizens and church member of the Ferguson community that are fed up with violence here in Ferguson,” said Reggie Chandler, the prayer circle organizer. “And all around the city of St. Louis.”
New Northside Missionary Baptist Church organized the event after watching the tragedy of the death of 9-year-old Jamyla Bolden.
Everyone who attended was united by one thing: Their desire to stop the violence in the St. Louis area.
“The community seems like it’s coming together on this sensitive issues,” Chandler said. “It’s not about police or anyone else. I’m just glad we’re all out here together.”
