(Meredith) -- A Texas woman shot a man twice after he allegedly reached into her car and tried to steal her purse.
The woman arrived at her apartment complex in Houston around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday and noticed several men standing near her parking spot, the Houston Chronicle reported. As she began to roll up her car windows, one of the men reached inside and attempted to grab her purse, police said.
After a brief struggle with the suspect, the woman managed to grab her purse. Police said she then pulled a gun from the handbag and fired the only two shots left in her firearm, hitting the suspect.
KTRK-TV interviewed the woman, who identified herself as Lachelle Hudgins, on Tuesday.
"I shot until I couldn't shoot anymore," Hudgins told the station. "I saved my life."
The suspect and the other men ran away after the shooting. A short time later, police received a call about the wounded suspect who was found on the other side of the complex.
He was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive. He's also facing aggravated robbery charges.
