(Meredith) – A substitute teacher at an Ohio middle school was arrested for "fondling himself" in a classroom while students were present, police said.

Tracey J. Abraham, was charged Tuesday with public indecency, a first-degree misdemeanor, the Hamilton Journal-News reported.

Several students at Creekside Middle School reported "suspicious behavior" taking place behind Abraham's desk Tuesday morning, the Fairfield City School district said in a statement. At least one student reportedly caught the act on video.

A school resource officer immediately removed the teacher from the building, and he was arrested later that day.

Abraham told officers he was looking at explicit photos on his phone and fondled himself outside the pants multiple times over the course of an hour, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the Journal-News.

"At this time, the school district is not aware of the substitute teacher having physical contact with any of our students," the district said. "In addition, we are not aware of any students being exposed to any nudity."

Creekside Middle School said it has reached out to parents to notify them of the alleged incident, which was also reported to the Ohio Department of Education.

"Providing a safe, secure and positive learning environment for our students and staff has always been and will continue to be our most important priority," the district said, adding that Abraham will no longer be allowed to work at any of its schools.

For the past eight years, Abraham has taught at dozens of schools in Butler and Warren counties. He also passed an FBI background check in 2012 and 2017, according to the Journal-News.
