Police officers shovel more than a foot of snow for 99-year-old woman who lives alone

Police officers in New York are being praised for shoveling more than a foot of snow off an elderly woman's driveway.

(Meredith) -- Police officers in New York are being praised for shoveling more than a foot of snow off an elderly woman's driveway.

Albany was hit with more than 22 inches of snow Sunday night. On Monday morning, officers with the Albany Police Department received a phone call from a 99-year-old woman who lives alone, asking for their help with her snowy driveway.

According to a Facebook post, officers William Pierce, Christopher Stiles and John Schueler all drove to the woman's home to help. They shoveled more than a foot of snow from her sidewalk and driveway.

The police department posted photos on Facebook of the officers shoveling the driveway.

"When duty calls," the Facebook post read.
