ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Authorities have identified a man who was killed during a crash on Interstate 44 at Vandeventer Wednesday morning.
Around 8:30 a.m. a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo was pulled over in the traffic lane after it was involved in an accident in the exit lane to Vandeventer. After assessing the damage, the driver re-entered the vehicle and was struck in the rear by a 1966 Ford F-150.
Following the collision, the Ford F-150 struck a pedestrian who was standing in the traffic lane near the vehicles.
The driver of the Isuzu Rodeo, Donald Patten, 48, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The 34-year-old pedestrian was taken to the hospital and listed in critical, but stable condition. The 35-year-old driver of the Ford F-150 was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Three lanes of the roadway were closed while crews responded to the scene.
