Police: 3 arrests, 3 sought following MetroLink attack

From Left: Jahma Swaningan, Jody Dale, and Eddie Price were accused of assault.

Three men have been charged with felony assault in connection to an assault that took place on the MetroLink Monday.

Police say Jahma Swanigan, Eddie Price and John Dale, along with three others, assaulted a man near Rock Road MetroLink station and UMSL South MetroLink.

The victim was traveling on a westbound train between both stations when six men repeatedly kicked and punched the victim.

Authorities say the man was hit multiple times in the face and all over his body. According to court documents, the victim was slammed to the floor of a MetroLink train car. When the train reached the UMSL South station the men ran away from the scene, according to police.

The victim suffered an orbital bone fracture, other facial fractures, along with other injuries elsewhere.

Surveillance video captured the attack and was reviewed by police. Swanigan can be seen approaching the victim, sitting down directly across from him and saying something underneath his breath, authorities say.

Swanigan was arrested several days later at the North Hanley MetroLink station after St. Louis County police recognized him, as were Price and Dale.

According to St. Louis County police, Swanigan told them he was aware that the victim was going to be beat up by his friends and claimed he approached the victim in order to record the assault on his phone.

Police say video did not show Swanigan recording the attack.

Swanigan denied saying anything to the victim and said he only greeted his friend before the assault, rather than signaling to him in any way.

Davis, when arrested by police, reportedly admitted taking part in the attack, but said it was in retaliation for the victim stealing money and a gun from Dale's aunt previous.

Eddie Price and John Dale have also been charged with first-degree assault in connection with this attack. Police are still attempting to identify the remaining three suspects.

This assault is under investigation. If you have any information about these suspects, contact St. Louis County Police Department.
