Police: 15-year-old leads officers on chase in stolen car

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Police have a 15-year-old boy in custody after a car crashed during a police pursuit in north St. Louis Wednesday.

Police were pursuing a stolen vehicle that was carjacked out of Ferguson when the crash occurred on Union at Interstate 70 around 11 a.m.

Authorities observed the car driving eastbound on I-70 at Jennings Station Road and attempted to stop the vehicle but the car would not stop. Officers began to pursue the vehicle for about a minute when the car crashed near the intersection of Union Boulevard and Bircher Boulevard.

Police say the suspect vehicle struck another occupied vehicle. The suspect attempted to flee after the accident but was taken into custody without further incident.

According to authorities, suspected drugs were located in the recovered car.

The victim of the vehicle struck was treated by EMS and released at the scene.

The 15-year-old suspect was taken to a local hospital as a precaution. Police say he will be taken to Family Court for further charges.
