Some local high school students are getting a taste of real-world work and getting help from business professionals.

Students in the Francis Howell School District recently spent time off-campus in the offices of Charter-Spectrum.

The students are part of the CAPS Program at Francis Howell, which stands for Center for the Advanced Professional Studies.

They were able to hear first-hand what employers are looking for when they fill jobs.

Many students said they love getting out of the classroom and getting real-world experience.

“We’re working on our professional skills, meeting them, shaking hands, giving them our elevator speech. It’s a very different experience than your typical high school classroom,” said Dustin Kem with Francis Howell North High School.

Students also said they enjoyed the chance to network with working professionals.
