Sappington, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Lindbergh High School has a Missouri High School fishing champion after allowing the student to begin a fishing club.
Trey Schroeder represents Lindbergh High School at fishing tournaments.
Trey Schroder said, “I wouldn’t really be happy doing anything else and when I found out I could fish teen tournaments in high school and into college, I was pumped.”
At 16-years-old, Schroeder is good enough to have sponsors. He is the current Missouri High School fishing champion.
“I practice a lot. I just continue to fish and when I’m not fishing, I’m thinking of fishing, and when I’m not thinking of fishing, I’m fishing,” said Schroeder.
Schroeder says he started a fishing club at Lindbergh High School as a junior. The club began with only Schroeder and a friend. But since Schroeder is winning tournaments, other students want to get involved.
Troy Schroeder, father of Trey Schroeder said, “Trey pioneered it at his high school and it’s growing and it’s been a great thing.”
