WENTZVILLE, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- MoDOT crews held a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday for an overpass that has been hailed as a potential life-saver.

The overpass on US-61 in Wentzville will eliminate people turning onto the four-lane highway at Route P.

At the ribbon cutting ceremony were families of those who have lost loved ones on the stretch of highway.

St. Charles County, Wentzville and MoDOT split the financing for the project evenly. The overpass is expected to open to the public next week.
