St. Charles County is getting a new emergency operations center.
The center will cost $24 million to build, equip, and staff workers.
“This will be able to withstand the type of tornado we saw in Joplin. It’ll be able to withstand earthquakes and other disasters,” said St. Charles County Executive, Steve Ehlmann.
The new facility will house the Department of Emergency Communications, the Police Department’s Division of Emergency Management and provide expansion for evidence storage.
St. Charles County says last year, it dispatched emergency vehicles more than 100,000 times because of emergency situations.
