(Meredith) – Basketball superstar Michael Jordan and his brand are pledging to donate $100 million over the next 10 years to organizations dedicated to ensuring racial equality, social justice and greater access to education.

The massive donation was announced in a Nike news release on Friday, June 5.

“Through our Jordan Wings Program, we have been focused on providing access to education, mentorship and opportunity for black youth facing the obstacles of systemic racism. We must join forces with the community, government and civic leaders to create a lasting impact together," President of Jordan Brand Craig Williams said in a press release. “There is still more work for us to do to drive real impact for the black community. We embrace the responsibility."

Jordan joins a long list of celebrities who announced in the past week that they are donating to organizations that fight for racial equality, including Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Angelina Jolie, The Weeknd and Chrissy Teigen.
