EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville student Sara Merz lost her wallet and three lawn care workers cutting grass along the ramp to Interstate 270 found and returned it.

Merz left the wallet on top of her car after pumping gas at QuikTrip but didn’t realize it was missing until hours later. By then, she was back home in O’Fallon, Missouri and thought she would never see her wallet, which had her driver’s license, gift cards, social security card and $100 inside, again.

The following day, three men showed up on Merz’s front porch with her wallet intact.

“It restored my faith in humanity,” she said.

Merz did not know the names of her heroes but she got a picture of the men who drove all the way from Edwardsville, Illinois to O’Fallon, Missouri to return her belongings.
