A man is facing charges for a fatal shooting that took place in front of a home in Venice, Illinois Thursday morning.

Perry Richardson, 23, is charged with first-degree murder.

Richardson and Billy Dickerson, 19, allegedly drove up to a home in the 200 block of Abbott Street around 10:00 a.m. and tried to rob two people sitting in front of a car near the home.

One of the victims, a 70-year-old Vietnam War veteran, pulled out a gun and fatally shot Dickerson. Richardson was wounded.

The veteran has a conceal and carry license.

After being treated at a hospital, Richardson was taken to the Madison County Jail where he is being held without bond.
