A local musician was attacked in Soulard in what he describes as a 'knockout game' style attack.
Tom Hall says he was punched multiple times and kicked to the ground Thursday night in Soulard.
"I was crusin' home to watch the hockey game and basically I turned down an alley to make a short cut and before I knew it, there was four to five guys behind me," says Tom Hall.
Hall says one of the men asked him for a cigarette. He said he didn't have one. Hall says four of the men then walked in front of him.
"At this point I was getting really nervous. I forgot about the big guy behind me and I never saw it coming. He smacked me right in the eye. The hardest hit I ever felt in my life and kicked me to the ground," he says.
Hall says he got up, but the men didn't stop.
"I started to get up and I thought this is it he is going to try to knock me out that is what the whole deal is is to knock out game. Just as he is walking toward me someone walked in the alley. He looked at them, looked at me and just kind of walked away laughing and talking," says Hall.
Hall says he called 911. He is so badly injured that he got a sharp pain in his eye while speaking to News 4.
"I have 15 stitches, a broken nose around my eye, I have three loose teeth, I can't see right out of my right eye," he says.
As for the men who attacked him, Hall has this to say:
"I think they are attacking the wrong people. They are not angry at me. They are angry, but I am not the guy they needed to whack," says.
Hall filed a police report. He says his biggest concern right now is the getting better and paying for the medical bills. He doesn't have insurance.
There is currently a Go-Fund Me page has been set up to raise money for Hall's medical expenses. So far, $1,050 has been raised for the $5,000 goal.
