HILLSBORO, Mo. ( -- Financial damages have reached into the thousands of dollars after vandals struck again at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.

Someone broke out the glass doors to get into one of the buildings on the grounds and once inside they toppled furniture and threw sugar all over the carpet.

The vandals also damaged a television, ripped seat cushions and tore out plumbing.

"It's extremely frustrating, I mean, we put in a lot of volunteer time in here,” said fairgrounds office manager Kelly Fortel. “It's just going to be more time and more money that we have to pull together to do it."

The vandals also damaged golf carts used for events at the fairgrounds.

It’s the second time the fairgrounds were hit. Vandals also caused a lot of damage about a month and a half ago.
