ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Is a Wahlburgers coming to St. Louis?
During an appearance with Will Ferrell on Great Day St. Louis Thursday, Mark Wahlberg seemed to make certain one of the famed burger restaurants he co-owns with his brothers, Paul and Donnie, would be headed to the area.
“I’m sold on the City of St. Louis as a whole,” Wahlberg said. “I mean, I’m coming all the way down there to open a Wahlburgers soon. I have my guys scouting some locations."
When asked by Great Day St. Louis Host Matt Chambers if he could confirm a Wahlburgers would open in St. Louis, Wahlberg said, “Yes, absolutely I can.”
Earlier this year, Hy-Vee Inc. announced their plan to build, own and operate 26 Wahlburgers restaurants in seven Midwestern states. The company released a map of the locations they were planning, which seem to include Kansas City, Des Moines and St. Louis.
A media liaison with Hy-Vee confirmed to News 4 Thursday that a stand-alone Wahlburgers restaurant is coming to St. Louis. She could not provide details on the location or opening date for the restaurant but said they are "looking at the options of multiple locations in St. Louis."
The first Hy-Vee-owned Wahlburgers is set to open West Des Moines, Iowa in mid-2018.
