ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) -- The Major Case Squad’s investigation into the double homicide in Vinita Park revealed a third adult was involved in the incident that resulted in the shooting deaths of Tashonda Nesbitt and Vernon Stewart Jr.
Police were called to the 2100 block of Penfield around 1 a.m. Sunday for reports of a shooting and discovered both Nesbitt and Stewart dead.
In an update provided Wednesday, police said Nesbitt and Stewart were involved in a domestic argument that turned violent and Stewart shot and killed Nesbitt.
The Major Case Squad has been activated to investigate an apparent double homicide in Vinita Park Sunday.
Authorities say a Stewart then began threatening a third person who was on the scene. That person eventually shot and killed Stewart during the incident.
They are cooperating with police, and no charges have been issued at this time.
Neighbors and friends said Nesbitt and Stewart had been together for a number of years. They described the couple as friendly and helpful. One neighbor told News 4 that Nesbitt and her teenage daughter organized a block party in August.
