A local fundraiser is raising awareness and making donations to patients battling life-threatening cancer.
Stella Czerniwski passed away due to colon cancer complications and her family strides to make some of her last wishes come true with a foundation called “Stella’s Wish.”
“Stella was my mother, Stella was a phenomenal person with a huge heart,” said Stella’s son, Don Rogers.
A girl at the Florissant church the family attends, raised money to send Stella and her family on a dream trip to Disney World.
“My wife died of cancer in 2007 of colon cancer and her wish was to go to Disney World,” said Stella’s husband, Donald Czerniwski.
After Stella lost her battle to colon cancer in 2007, the family wanted to fulfill a wish of Stella’s, raising money for colon cancer patients.
Lisa Marie Schnaath reached out to the foundation about her current battle with cancer over the last three years.
“They don’t want to tell me, I’m terminal. I try not to tell myself I am. I believe with God’s faith and hope, that I believe I can fight and make it,” said Schnaath.
Schnaath says she is also a supporter of theme parks since she met her husband nearly two decades ago at Six Flags.
“We are die-hard theme park enthusiasts,” said Schnaath.
Now, Lisa and her family will also be able to experience Disney World together, provided by Stella’s Wish Foundation.
Stella’s Wish helps adults with life-threatening Stage-4 cancer.
The foundation has now granted 100 wishes, to find out more about Stella’s Wish, click here.
