Dozens of Yorkshire Terriers are now safe in St. Louis after being rescued from a home in western Missouri.
The Humane Society of Missouri says 27 dogs were at a suspected breeder’s former home in Bates County.
An anonymous caller alerted the Humane Society, saying the dogs roamed barns and a horse trailer for shelter.
Rescue crews say the dogs may not have survived the winter.
Some of the dogs are suffering from health issues, but the hope is to get them back to health and into new homes.
The Humane Society said the dogs are receiving dental care, and are being spayed and neutered.
They may be available for adoption as soon this weekend.
