FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A Franklin County homeowner attempted to stop a suspect from escaping by firing gunshots Thursday afternoon.

At approximately 2 p.m., the Franklin County SWAT team and multiple county police issued a search warrant in the 3300 block of Lollar Branch Rd.

During the search, police located drug paraphernalia, two firearms, and arrested 34-year-old Christopher Grant.

While the deputies were still searching, another suspect, Dustin Bailey, 31, approached the residence and authorities located illegal contraband on him. As officials tried to arrest Bailey, he ran away from the scene.

Officials were unable to catch him and began to search for the suspect.

A short time later, a local resident spotted him trespassing on his property. The land owner held Bailey at gunpoint until law enforcement arrived.

When deputies arrived, the suspect ran again. The home owner shot at Bailey two times but was unable to stop him.

Authorities searched until night, using a Highway Patrol airplane but had no luck until the next morning.

Around 7 a.m. Friday morning, Franklin County Communications received a phone call from another resident that he discovered a man sleeping in his truck. The description of the man appeared to match the suspect.

Bailey was eventually pulled over and taken in custody as he was heading towards St. Clair County.

Law enforcement confirmed this person was the same suspect who escaped the day before.

Charges are pending with the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office.
