GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KMOV.com) – A suspect escaped police custody when he jumped out the back of an ambulance and ran off in Granite City.

Around 2 a.m. Thursday, a man got combative with officers so they used a Taser on him, according to the Illinois State Police Department. After they handcuffed the man, they placed him an ambulance to be taken to the Gateway Regional Medical Center for evaluation.

When the ambulance arrived at the medical center, the suspect, who was still in handcuffs, started running from the southwest entrance to the emergency room.

The suspect is wanted for several felony warrants in Missouri. His last known address is in St. Peters. Police have declined to release his name but said he should be presumed dangerous.
