Grad students at Washington University are demanding better pay and benefits.

The newly formed Union of Grad Student workers held a protest in Clayton Wednesday to pay graduate students for all 12 months of the year.

“$215 a week. I provide an invaluable service to Wash U, I’m a worker who deserves basic rights and I’m not getting this right now,” said Sarah Crosley, a grad student.

Grad students are asking the university to pay them through the summer.

The university said they extended pay to 11 months and have also added additional medical insurance for grad student workers.
