ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- A clerk accused of shooting someone outside a North City gas station is facing charges.

Taleb Rebhi Ali Jawher, 39, is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

According to police, 34-year-old Christopher Simmons was found outside the store on 2800 North Florissant with a gunshot wound to the head.

Court documents state the victim and Jawher were arguing inside the store on September 26. Jawher then pointed a gun at Simmons as Simmons left believing he intended to steal a bag of candy, authorities said.

However, authorities said Simmons did not steal the bag of candy.

Jawher is accused of following Simmons outside the store and shooting him in the head as Simmons walked to his car.

Simmons' mother told News 4 she is relieved that charges have been brought against Jawher.
