FLORISSANT, MO (KMOV.com) – The Florissant Police Department recently received a new addition in the form of a K-9 named Eddie.
Eddie was born in March and donated by former St. Louis County officer Sherry Opich, no strings attached. She lives in Florissant and wanted to do something for officers after what happened in Ferguson.
“They saw the wrong side of the law enforcement and police officers are people and they have families and you know, they get hurt, too, and the law enforcement community in St. Louis needs some healing and it just so happened Eddie came along,” Opich said.
According to police, Eddie is a little different than a typical police dog. He is not trained to sniff out bombs or take down suspects, instead his main job is to be petted.
