A local non-profit is aiming to help more low-income families by opening a new facility near Moline Acres.

The Fit and Food Connection opened its new food pantry center at the Believers Temple Church on Chambers Road Sunday. The organization's goal is to help bring the community together and provide fresh food to families in need with a local food pantry.

However providing fresh food throughout the St. Louis area is just part of the organization’s mission.

“We’re not just a food pantry, we’re not just a fitness class. Every single thing we do is free." said Joy Millner, co-director of Fit and Food Connection. "We teach stress relief and empowerment. We only service healthy food and that’s what set us apart."

Fit and Food Connection also runs an emergency hotline, individual fitness classes and makes weekly food deliveries to residents in need.
