Father-son duo charged for alleged vehicle burglaries

MASCOUTAH, Ill. (KMOV.com) - A father and son have both been charged for their alleged involvement in several thefts from vehicles and two stolen vehicles in Mascoutah and Freeburg, Illinois.

Robert Scales, 40, and Jordan Scales, 20, have both been charged with two counts of burglary.

Officials said on the night of July 4, a Jeep was stolen and several other vehicles were reported to be broken into from Grodeon Road south of Mascoutah.

In Freeburg, a vehicle was stolen and other vehicles were also reported to have been broken into with items taken.

Police tracked the Jeep taken from Grodeon Road to a hotel in Collinsville the following morning. The vehicle stolen from Freeburg was also found at that location.

After some investigation at the scene, the Scales were taken into custody.

Both of the Scales are being held on a $75,000 bond at the St. Clair County Jail.
