ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) - The father of a teen accused of killing a South City business owner says his son was defending himself.
Jarvis Campbell, 17, is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. He is accused of fatally shooting Jacob Hudson, 36, in the 6400 block of Idaho on October 6.
“He was not raised that way. I am sure anyone can verify or witness it,” said Jimmie Campbell, Jarvis’ father.
Jimmie Campbell says there is more to the story than what has been told.
“The guy came after him with the knife and he defended himself,” said Jimmie.
Police would not comment about whether a knife was found. Jimmie says investigators have video supporting his belief.
“That is what you need to see. That is what needs to be out there,” Jimmie said.
Carondelet neighborhood block captain Joseph Fazio said he has heard other accounts that Jarvis was defending himself.
