FARMINGTON (KMOV.COM) - The father of the man accused of shooting and killing KKK leader Frank Ancona said his son is a pawn in his ex-wife's plan.

Paul Jinkerson Sr. said while his son, Paul Jinkerson Jr, 24, struggled with substance abuse and had trouble with the law, he's never been violent.

"[Malissa Ancona] is saving her own skin, throwing my son under the bus," said Jinkerson Sr.

On Thursday February 9, police said Jinkerson Jr. shot and killed Frank Ancona in his bed while he slept. Investigators said Malissa Ancona played an active role, along with her son, in her husband's murder.

Photos obtained by News4 from the Midwest Community Cat Alliance show the inside of the Leadwood home where the crime occurred. The rescue group was granted permission by investigators to go into the house to rescue more than 40 cats. Malissa Ancona had an unlicensed animal rescue inside her house.

The photos show what the rescue group calls "deplorable" conditions for the cats, but also what appears to be a blood-soaked mattress.

Jinkerson Sr. said he has not asked his son for details about what he's accused of doing, but that when he saw his son the Friday after the murder, he didn't say anything.

"Paul did not come up with this idea, Malissa is the bad person," he said describing his ex-wife.

The couple divorced back in 1996, Jinkerson Sr. said Malissa was violent in the past and he believes she killed Frank Ancona because he threatened to divorce her.

"[Malissa] didn't want to be left alone, she did not want him to leave," Jinkerson Sr. said.

He said Frank Ancona reached out to him a few months ago saying he wanted to leave, but didn't know how Malissa would react.

"We didn't know she was going to do this, this is beyond belief, this is a nightmare for not only the Ancona family but our family," said Jinkerson Sr.

Malissa Ancona and Paul Jinkerson Jr. both are scheduled for their first court appearance Tuesday morning.
