(CNN/Meredith) -- Soccer fields and deer definitely do not mix.

Look at what happened in Long Island.

Luckily, this one got help from a New York truck driver on his way to a job.

Todd Brush says he found the animal tangled in a soccer net on the fields at Harbour Country Day School in Suffolk County.

He used the utility knife from his truck to cut the net around the antlers.

It took him 12 minutes to free the distraught deer.

Brush said he felt bad about leaving a hole in the soccer net.

He wrote a letter to the school explaining what happened and offered to pay for a new one.

The superintendent told him not to worry about it because somebody had to do what he did.
