Multiple lanes of westbound Interstate 70 remain shutdown Friday evening following a crash that stemmed from a police pursuit.

According to police sources, three juvenile suspects were fleeing police in a stolen silver sedan. The car was stolen in a carjacking in the Central West End earlier on Friday. The suspects crashed on I-70 near Shreve Avenue, bringing down a light pole. All three suspects were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Officers shut down all lanes around 5:45 p.m. near the Shreve exit and began rerouting traffic. The highway reopened some time after 8 p.m. Police found two firearms near the scene and believe the suspects threw them from the vehicle.

Dozens of officers and medical personnel arrived on scene, as well as utility workers.

Police believe the suspects may be connected to other carjackings.
