Emergency crews on I-70 near North Hanley Road after a worker was hit early Thursday morning.

Crews were working to install new guardrails on the interstate just west of North Hanley Road in Berkeley when a car hit one of the workers around 1:45 a.m. According to Central County Dispatch, the car that hit the worker didn’t stop.

A worker at the scene told News 4 the man’s leg was badly injured after being hit. The worker was then taken to the hospital.

The construction crew was working on the right shoulder and had one lane closed while they installed the guardrail.

MoDOT told News 4 the man who was hit was a contract worker and not one of their employees.

Berkeley police are investigating but have not released any description of the cars involved.
